Suresh equips himself to be a stronger leader

As a mature-aged student, Suresh MacKenzie studied the Diploma of Leadership and Management BSB50420 at VU Polytechnic to upskill and help further his career.

"I was working as the Adult Migrant Education Program Training Manager and the course added value to my position by providing an objective strategic outlook to both decision making and report writing."

"I like the structure of the course in terms of a balance in content and assessment. When asked about the most valuable thing gained in his studies, Suresh credits the transferrable skills learned:

The transferable skills of being confident and approachable as a leader and person in life, my career and within the general community was the most valuable thing learnt.

"I am currently serving on the South Kingsville Community Centre board. I adhere to the expectations of the Centre by attending regular meetings/special events, participating in the Strategic Plan review and becoming familiar with financial budgets, all of which aligned to the units studied within the Diploma of Leadership and Management."

Suresh highly recommends students thinking about studying at VU Polytechnic to take the plunge:

"I have studied all my courses with Victoria University over the past two decades; it is my second home. It is the best place to upskill and start over if you want to acquire skills for future employment or to pursue further education opportunities."

Suresh went on to study the Graduate Certificate in Management at VU after completing the Diploma of Leadership and Management BSB50420.
