Congratulations to Victoria University (VU) Polytechnic’s Barbering teacher Michael Daskalakis on becoming a finalist in the 2021 Australian Modern Barber Awards for the Best Men’s Educator of the Year category!

Michael teaches the Certificate III in Barbering SHB30516 and is selected as a finalist for his excellence in men's hair education and growth in skills level of others.

Having recently closed the chapter of my award-winning barbershop in Canberra, I left it all behind and moved to Melbourne to pursue my passion for education as a teacher at VU Polytechnic where I am fortunate enough to teach the craft and share my passion with my students. Since moving to Melbourne, all of my hard work paid off when I was recently announced as a finalist for the Australian Modern Barber Awards for Best Men’s Educator of the Year 2021," says Michael.

Hair is my form of art and barbering is my creative outlet that I will continue to share with the new generation of barbers.

The Australian Modern Barber Awards aims to provide the Australian barber and men’s hairdressing industry a much-needed and often-requested benchmark of excellence, and a platform to showcase creative and business skills. The Best Men's Educator of the Year category was open to individuals or organisations.

Winners will be announced at the grand awards night on 7 November.
