Congratulations to VU’s Victoria Police Diversity Recruitment Program Team, recipients of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Diversity and Inclusion.
This innovative program seeks to increase the representation of African Australians in Victoria Police, contributing to a police force that is more reflective of the community it services while building trust and understanding with African communities. The program is built on strong partnerships between VU in the Community and VU Polytechnic with Victoria Police, Jesuit Social Services, Africause and other agencies.
Achievements include four programs with 70 participants and a pass rate of 83 in the VicPol Entrance Exam and 10 in alternative employment and education pathways. Increased life and education skills – a replicable model for cultural inclusion pathways.
