Studying a Diploma of Remedial Massage HLT52015 at VU Polytechnic, Morrison Willcocks shares how the hands-on approach to studying massage benefits both students and clients.

“I have a background in martial arts and fitness. Health and fitness has been a big part of my life, so studying massage and health disciplines really helps me improve.

A student-run clinic with advantages

“Working in the student clinic here, we've got really knowledgeable supervisors and they're here to help us at every step of our clinic process.

“So, we work with five clients every Thursday, and we get to work through our own clinical reasoning and see what we can do for them.

“We also offer AFLW and VFL placements with the Western Bulldogs, and I’ll be doing that a little bit later in the year.

Facilities that help with learning as well as socialising

“The VU City Tower is great. It’s really well set up for us to practise and learn with each other in a room, around each other. That’s nice.”

A vision forward through pain relief

“I'd really like to get into myotherapy, or even sports science here at VU.

“I love when the client gets off the table, and you can see a dramatic improvement in their mobility and their general function. You can see that they aren't feeling the same pain they were when they came in.

“It's a really good feeling.”
