I really value that the course wasn’t limited in its career outcomes and that even though I had worked in events for over 10 years, I completed the diploma with a whole new career objective – which is priceless.

Diploma of Event Management SIT50316

Dylan Adler studied the Diploma of Event Management SIT50316 (superseded by SIT50322) at Victoria University Polytechnic to take his career to the next level. He now works as an Event Coordinator and Podcast Producer at the Public Transport Association Australia New Zealand.

I liked the opportunities that I got out of the course. I didn’t know how much I’d enjoy working on conferences until I had the opportunity to work on a massive multi-day conference as a volunteer with my studies, and now, I work primarily on seminars, conferences and forums which I absolutely love.

"The best thing about my study experience was the teachers. They’re really knowledgeable and passionate about their craft and it shows through their teaching. As a student you are more inclined to be excited about what is being taught if your instructor is genuinely excited to go through it with you. Kara Davies is the G.O.A.T. If you have her as a teacher you’ll have a career in the industry.

"In one of the group assignments, we created an event called ‘Bubble Bounce’ where we had a chef teach you how to make a 2-course meal and a bartender make a cocktail and mocktail with a comedian and DJ, which was really fun.

"I really value that the course wasn’t limited in its career outcomes and that even though I had worked in events for over 10 years, I completed the diploma with a whole new career objective – which is priceless. I also made industry connections during my time at VU Polytechnic, some of them I am still in contact with today.
