VU Polytechnic's Charity Dinner

VU Polytechnic proudly presents our Charity Dinner, a dining event delivered in partnership with industry-renowned chefs where all profits are donated to a chosen charity.

The Charity Dinner will feature a six-course degustation menu paired with matching wines, prepared by guest chef Markus Werner (Delaware North).

The dinner will feature a silent auction with all proceeds going towards OzHarvest. OzHarvest is Australia's leading food rescue organisation, committed to saving surplus food from ending up in landfill and delivering it to charities to help feed people in need.

About Chef Markus Werner

With over 30 years of experience as a Chef, Markus Werner is an expert in identifying and creating new trends, developing concepts, invigorating existing operations as well as building strong teams from the ground up.

Markus has worked with international catering company Delaware North as their Corporate Executive Chef for 10 years. In this role, he has been responsible for revitalising over 50 existing sites, across a wide range of hospitality venues in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

Markus has a passion for the “paddock to plate” concept, born from his training days as a Chef in a small restaurant in Germany. Here, he learnt the importance of building very close relationships and connections with the producers and farmers. This value of thoughtful sourcing, cooking and serving the best possible products, together with ensuring the wellbeing of his guests and the environment, even at scale, has formed a large part of his career.

As a certified Master Chef in both Australia and Germany, his passion for the industry has never waived during his 30-year career. Markus says, "This industry is my passion and my life. I continually change and innovate, making it so interesting. In this demanding industry, my belief is that you’re only as good as the last meal you served."
