After working in hospitality for 30 years, Jason Butcher embarked on a career change – enrolling in a Diploma of Community Services (CHC52015) at VU Polytechnic. He’s working at a Neighbourhood House while he’s studying, and already making a difference.

Joe grew up in Aleppo, Syria. He first learnt about hairdressing from his mother, who taught Joe skills he could take anywhere in the world. After a terrible tragedy, Joe lost his mother in the war and fled to Lebanon where he worked as a hairdresser and applied for a visa to Australia.
